STERLING, Kan. – The York University men's soccer team raced to a 4-0 win at Sterling Wednesday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 8-3 on the season, including 5-1 in KCAC action.
Sergio Bueno broke the scoreless contest late in the first half. At the 38:47 mark, he found the back of the net for a 1-0 advantage.
Just two minutes into the second period, the visitors struck again.
Asaph Achero found
Tomas Viralhadas, who promptly booted the ball past the keeper for a two-goal advantage.
At the 72:05 mark,
James McAlister registered the team's third goal of the contest, extending the lead. The Panthers continued their offensive onslaught when Achero connected with
Tim Schafer for a score at the 79:29 mark.
For the match, York recorded 28 shots compared to 13 for the home team. The squad tallied 18 shots on goal and earned four corner kicks.
Jamie Watt registered seven saves while playing 83 minutes.
Maximilian Eicher notched a save while wrapping up the shutout.
Achero dished out a pair of assists in the victory.
Dominic Griffin and
Joao Vitor Tavares had four shots apiece.
