YORK, Neb. – The York University women's basketball team lost an 82-55 decision to Friends University Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 4-5 on the season.

Corinna Minjarez's team was led by
Alesia Rand's 12 points and nine rebounds.
Destiny Shepherd, Amaya Payen,
Olivia Adams and
Valeria Costilla added seven points apiece.
Lawson Hiltl tallied five markers while
Monique Contreras and
Lauren Perez chipped in four points apiece.
Yareli Gomez scored two points and had seven rebounds.
Contreras and
Sylvia Valentino shared team-high honors with three steals apiece.
York trailed 9-2 near the midway point of the first quarter before Payne's lay-up sliced the deficit to five, 9-4. Moments later, Costilla hit a lay-up to make it an eight-point game. An inside shot by Perez put the score at 17-8, but the Falcons rattled off nine points to close the quarter for a 26-8 advantage.
Down 31-8, Shepherd found Hiltl for a bucket at the 8:19 mark. With the score at 33-10, Hiltl canned a three-ball before Shepherd converted a pair of free throws, trimming the deficit to 33-15. Costilla and Contreras rattled off inside field goals late in the quarter, but Friends University maintained a 50-25 edge at the break.
The Panthers were unable to cut the deficit under 20 the rest of the way. Down 72-37, Rand hit two free throws and made a lay-up just prior to the end of the third quarter. Gomez hit a pair of free throws to start the fourth period.
For the game, York hit 19-of-58 from the floor. The squad buried two three-point buckets and hit 15-of-19 from downtown. The Panthers netted 32 points in the paint and scored 15 points off turnovers. York grabbed 34 rebounds.
