Men's Basketball: Grand View tops Panthers in midweek action

DES MOINES, Iowa – The York University men's basketball team lost an 87-53 game at Grand View Tuesday evening.

The Panthers are now 1-2 on the season.

Head coach Mitch McMullen's team was led by Dave Dalge and Landon Miller as each shared team-high honors with nine points. Jadin Johnson and Jaxon Kilmurry netted eight points apiece while Devin Carroll accounted for six markers.

York took an 8-7 lead on a lay-up by Dalge just 3:03 into the game. Moments later, Miller knotted the game at 11-11 on a shot from distance off a pass from Logan Beckstrom. Dalge tied the game again at 15-15 on an inside shot with just under 10 minutes to go in the half. Kilmurry found Miller for a shot from deep for an 18-17 edge.

Trailing 26-20, Johnson converted a lay-up with 4:01 to play. King Solomon's bucket pulled the visitors within two, 26-24. Down 30-24, Shaun Armstrong nailed a shot, but the home team hit a three-point basket with less than a minute to play for a 33-26 edge at the break.

Miller hit a three-point bucket and Dalge netted a free throw to pull the team within three just 45 seconds into the second half. However, a 15-0 spurt by Grand View made it 48-30 and the Panthers were unable to get any closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

For the game, York hit 18-of-46 (39.1 percent) from the floor, including seven-of-23 from the three-point stripe. The Panthers netted 20 points in the paint and scored seven points off turnovers.

The Panthers return to action Friday when they travel to Mount Marty to take on Doane at 5 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at Yorkpanthers.com.
