YORK, Neb. – The York University women's basketball team lost a 90-56 contest to Mount Marty Friday evening.
The Panthers are now 3-2 on the season.
Head coach
Corinna Minjarez's team was led by
Monique Contreras' 12-point effort.
Zoe Brown and
Valeria Costilla had 11 points apiece while
Olivia Adams contributed nine markers.
Lauren Perez and
Destiny Shepherd accounted for four points apiece.
Adams narrowly missed a double-double while snagging her 10 rebounds. Contreras and Shepherd had three assists each while Brown and Contreras each had one block.
After trailing 32-18 entering the second period, Minjarez's squad played the visitors to a draw in the next 10 minutes of action. Down 34-14, Costilla and Contreras posted back-to-back three-point shots. Shepherd netted an old-fashioned three-point play to make it 37-23 at the 7:56 mark.

Lawson Hiltl drained a shot from distance.
Yareli Gomez's jumper made it a 15-point game with just under five minutes to play. Brown's lay-up with 39 ticks to play for a 50-32 score at the break.
York cut it to 16 on a pair of free throws by Contreras at the 8:30 mark of the third quarter. When Contreras netted six of eight points during a 50-second stretch of the period, the Panthers once again made it a 16-point game. However, that was as close as the home team could get the rest of the way.
For the game, York hit 20-of-63 from the floor, including seven-of-25 from distance. The team connected on nine free throws.
The Panthers grabbed 35 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass. York dished out 10 assists and had 20 points off the bench.
