LINDSBORG, Kan. – The York University men's basketball team posted an 82-64 victory over Bethany Wednesday evening in a KCAC contest.
The Panthers are now 3-7 on the year, including 1-3 in KCAC action.
Head coach
Mitch McMullen's team was led by
Logan Beckstrom's 16-point, nine-rebound, four-assist performance.
Jadin Johnson added 15 points and five boards while
Shaun Armstrong and
Jaxon Kilmurry had nine points apiece.
Devin Carroll and
Landon Miller totaled seven points apiece while
Dave Dalge and
Richard Massey contributed six each.
Nathaniel Owen and
Eli Nutting posted five and two points, respectively.
Trailing 10-7, Owen started a 7-0 spurt with a lay-up. Carroll knocked down a three-ball before Dalge's lay-up pushed the Panthers to a 14-10 edge. Down 18-16,
Jadin Johnson hit a basket and
Richard Massey found Beckstrom for a three-point bucket, giving the visitors a 21-18 advantage.
Up 21-20, Kilmurry netted a shot from downtown. Nutting made a lay-up before Dalge canned two charity tosses. Armstrong's lay-up pushed the margin to 10, 30-20, with 7:18 to go in the half. Holding a 41-28 lead, Beckstrom nailed a three-point basket before
Jadin Johnson's lay-up with 23 seconds to go gave York a 46-28 lead at intermission.
Bethany trimmed the deficit to 57-45 before Johnson hit an inside shot at the 11:09 mark. A lay-up by Miller pushed the margin to 15, 62-47. With the score 65-52, Armstrong and Beckstrom hit back-to-back three-point buckets for a 71-52 edge at the 6:17 mark.
York's stellar play down the stretch guided the squad to the 18-point victory.
For the game, York hit 26-of-56 from the floor, including a sizzling 13-of-28 from downtown. The team buried 17-of-21 from the charity stripe. The Panthers grabbed 37 boards and led for 34:10. York dished out 16 assists and recorded 17 second-chance points.
