SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – The York University softball team lost a pair of games Saturday, falling 12-1 to Northwestern College before dropping a 4-1 contest to Doane.

The Panthers are now 1-3 on the young season.

Against Northwestern College, the Panthers made it 2-1 in the second stanza when Carla Martinez singled in Kennedie Anderson, who had reached on a double to the gap in right center field. However, the designated visitors would score 10 consecutive runs for the victory.

For the game, Anderson, Martinez, Emma Morphew and Chloe Lockhart posted hits.

In the circle, Lockhart took the loss. She had six strikeouts. Kaitlyn Roe wrapped up the game in the circle for York.

Against Doane, the Panthers trailed 2-0 after the first frame, but the team quickly sliced the deficit in half. With two down, Morgan Cameron singled to left field and swiftly stole second base. She scored on a single by Gracie Torstensen to make it 2-1.

Doane tacked on two runs and held on for the 4-1 win.

In the circle, Alex Harwell worked 3.2 innings while Lockhart tossed 2.1 frames and notched two strikeouts.

At the plate, Anderson, Cameron, Nevaeh Reed and Torstensen had hits. Torstensen had one RBI while Cameron scored.

The Panthers return to action on Friday, Feb. 7 with games against Graceland and Calumet College of St. Joseph beginning at 10:30 a.m. Live stats will be available at Yorkpanthers.com.
