WICHITA, Kan. – The York University softball team lost a pair of games at the Friends University Spring Round Robin Saturday, falling 7-4 to Peru State before dropping a 5-3 contest to Mayville State.
The Panthers are now 4-12 on the season.
Against Peru State, York trailed 5-0 in the third inning.
Morgan Cameron led off the frame with a triple and scored on a
Moriah Hoshowski base knock to center field.
Down 7-1 in the fifth, the Panthers continued to push forward. Cameron singled and swiped second. After a walk to Hoshowski,
Kennedie Anderson singled to center field. A bases loaded walk to
Chloe Lockhart made it 7-2. Moments later,
Paige Chapman reached on an error, plating Anderson. A walk to
Gracie Torstensen pulled the team within three at 7-4, but a line drive ended the threat.
Cameron led the way with two hits while Hoshowski and Chapman each drove in a run. Cameron scored twice.

Alex Harwell went the distance and had two strikeouts in the loss.
Against Mayville State, York jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Cameron walked and hustled to second on a base hit by Chapman. After a fielder's choice, Anderson swiped second. Lockhart reached on an error, allowing Cameron to score. Hoshowski singled in Anderson for the two-run lead.
The Panthers pushed it to 3-0 when Anderson's sacrifice fly allowed Cameron to score in the fifth.
Mayville State scored five runs in the bottom of the frame for the 5-3 win.
For the game, Chapman led the way with three hits. Hoshowski added two while Cameron scored twice.
In the circle, Lockhart went the distance and had seven strikeouts, but took the loss.
