BELLEVUE, Neb. – The York University baseball team lost a 13-10 decision at Bellevue Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 10-16 on the season.
York jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the first two at bats.
Nicholas DeMonte drew a lead-off walk and trotted home on a two-run blast by
Ian Heck. A
Ryan Romero solo shot in the second inning gave the Panthers a three-run cushion.
Down 6-3 in the fifth, DeMonte drew a lead-off walk. History repeated itself as Heck launched another two-run round-tripper to make it 6-5.
Trevor Peterson followed Heck with a solo shot to center field, knotting the score at 6-6.
Bellevue tacked on six runs in the fifth for a six-run margin. The Panthers battled back with a pair of runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh and eighth, but the squad was unable to knot the game.
In the sixth,
Cameron Reeve doubled home
Jose Martinez. Moments later,
Sam Hodoly doubled home Reeve to pull within four.
Romero had a solo homer in the seventh and
Cesar Galvan tacked on a solo blast in the eighth for the team's final runs.
For the game, Heck led the way with two homers and four RBI. Peterson, Romero and Martinez had two hits apiece. Romero drove in two while Heck, Romero and DeMonte scored twice apiece.
On the mound,
Jackson Taylor got the start and had a strikeout.
Ruben Colliander had a pair of strikeouts.
Sam Maudsley had a strikeout.
Marce Vasquez and
Matthew Burrell each had a strikeout as well.
Jackson Van Roekel was credited with the loss.
