YORK, Neb. – The York University softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Friends University on Friday, falling by scores of 20-0 and 19-0.
The Panthers are now 7-23 on the season, including a 2-10 ledger in KCAC action.
Down 15-0 in the bottom of the first,
Paige Chapman started things off with a single through the left side. However, that marked the team's lone hit until the fifth inning.
Down 20-0 in the fifth,
Bethany Wright recorded an infield single and moved to second on a base knock by
Moriah Hoshowski.
Gracie Torstensen reached on a fielder's choice that put Hoshowski on third base after an error.
For the game, Chapman, Hoshowski and Wright had hits.
In the circle,
Chloe Lockhart got the start.
Faith Torstensen and
Kaitlyn Roe also saw time in the circle.
Game two saw the visitors take an early lead they would not relinquish. York managed to record three hits in the contest in addition to a pair of walks.
Chapman had two hits to lead the squad. Lockhart and
Carla Martinez notched base knocks in the loss. Chapman and Lockhart accounted for walks.
In the circle,
Faith Torstensen got the starting nod and worked three frames. Roe worked an inning with a strikeout.
Alex Harwell recorded a strikeout in the fifth for the home team.
