YORK, Neb. – The York University baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Oklahoma Wesleyan by scores of 18-2 and 8-0.
The Panthers are now 7-9 on the season, including 4-4 in KCAC action.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third in game one,
Jose Martinez recorded a one-out single up the middle. He was able to take his time coming home on the
Trevor Peterson two-run blast over the center field wall.
The Eagles responded with six runs in the fourth for a 7-2 advantage. The visitors managed to push across four runs in the fifth, five in the sixth and two in the seventh.
For the game, Martinez, Peterson,
Tyren Dorrance and
Ryan Romero had hits. Peterson drove in two. He and Martinez each crossed home plate.
On the mound,
Ian Heck got the start and worked three frames. He had a pair of strikeouts.
Sam Maudsley,
Dyllan Hinrichs,
Jackson Taylor and
Jackson Bishop all saw time on the mound. Each had one strikeout in the contest.
Game two saw the visitors score two runs in the first and never look back.
Romero recorded a one-out single to left center field in the second stanza. However, he was left stranded.
York did not post another hit in the game until
Cameron Reeve notched a base knock to right field in the sixth with one away. Back-to-back outs ended the threat.
On the mound,
Elvin Ramos got the start and worked 5.2 innings. He gave up seven runs on 11 hits and had five strikeouts.
Anthony Del Rio tossed the final 1.1 frames and had two strikeouts. He gave up one run on a hit.
