SALINA, Kan. – The York University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Kansas Wesleyan by scores of 5-1 and 10-0.
The Panthers are now 8-32 on the year, including 3-19 in KCAC action.
York trailed 2-0 entering the fifth frame but quickly sliced the deficit to just one.
Kennedie Anderson led off the frame with a double to left field and
Morgan Cameron entered as a pinch runner.
Moriah Hoshowski laid down a bunt single to put runners on first and third. Two batters later, the Panthers pulled off a double steal to make it 2-1.
KWU managed to plate three more runs for the 5-1 final.
For the game, Anderson had a pair of hits, including a double. Hoshowski recorded the team's other hit while Cameron scored a run. Both Cameron and Hoshowski stole a base.
In the circle,
Chloe Lockhart went the distance and had three strikeouts. She gave up five runs on seven hits, but only two of the runs were earned.
Game two saw the Coyotes score two runs in the first, three in the third and five in the fourth for the 10-0 victory.
For the game, York tallied three hits, two of which occurred in the fifth frame.
Paige Chapman notched two hits while
Carla Martinez tallied one.
Bethany Wright drew a walk and swiped a base.

Kaitlyn Roe pitched the fourth inning.
