YORK, Neb. – The York University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Tabor College on Tuesday, falling 16-3 and 12-1.
The Panthers are now 8-28 on the season, including 3-15 in KCAC action.
Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the first, York quickly knotted the game.
Bethany Wright singled to right field with one down and took third on
Nevaeh Reed's double to left center field. Two batters later,
Kennedie Anderson crushed a three-run homer, to tie the contest.
Down 7-3 in the second,
Gracie Torstensen recorded a two-out single, but she was left stranded. Anderson singled to put two on in the third, but a groundout ended the frame.
Carla Martinez belted a double to right center field with one away in the fourth. However, the Panthers could not cut into the deficit.
For the game, Anderson led the way with two hits and three RBI.
In the circle,
Chloe Lockhart tossed three innings and had a strikeout.
Kaitlyn Roe worked the final two frames and notched a strikeout.
Game two saw Tabor College take a 6-0 lead before the Panthers plated a run in the bottom of the fourth. Lockhart led off the inning with a single to left center field and moved to second on a base knock up the middle by
Emma Morphew. Two batters later, Martinez knocked in Lockhart with a base hit to left field.
The visitors pushed across six runs in the fifth for a 12-1 margin.
In the bottom of the stanza, Reed singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. After taking third on a Lockhart base hit, a groundout ended the contest.
For the game, Lockhart led the way with two hits. Hoshowski, Reed, Morphew,
Morgan Cameron and Martinez all had hits. Martinez drove in Lockhart for the team's lone run.
In the circle,
Alex Harwell got the start and tossed four innings. She had a strikeout.
Faith Torstensen entered in relief and threw 19 pitches in the fifth.
