JOPLIN, Mo. – The No. 4 York University baseball team lost a 14-2 decision to No. 5 Tabor Thursday afternoon in the KCAC Tournament.
The Panthers are now 24-22 while Tabor stands at 30-19.
Tabor jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first and held a 9-0 lead before York broke through in the bottom of the fifth.
Trevor Peterson drew a lead-off walk and took second on
Sam Hodoly's base knock to right field. Both runners moved up 90 feet on a groundout by
Austin Grant.
Cameron Reeve lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, knocking in Peterson. On the play, Hodoly advanced to third before scoring on an error by the left fielder to make it 9-2.
Ian Heck recorded a one-out single to center field in the sixth, but back-to-back outs ended the threat.
The designated visitors plated five runs in the seventh for a 12-run margin.
Trailing 14-2 in the seventh, Hodoly posted a one-out single.
Nathan Eisenmenger entered as a pinch runner and swiftly moved to third on Grant's single to right center field. However, the squad was unable to push across anyone else.
For the game, Hodoly posted a pair of hits and scored a run. Grant and Heck tallied base knocks. Reeve drove in a run while Peterson crossed home plate.
James McCown worked four innings in the loss. He had a pair of strikeouts.
Sam Maudsley garnered one out while
Anthony Del Rio threw the final 2.2 innings.
The Panthers return to action Friday against either No. 1 Oklahoma Wesleyan or No. 8 Avila at 3:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at Yorkpanthers.com.
