SEWARD, Neb. – The York University men's soccer team lost a 3-1 contest to Concordia Wednesday evening.
The Panthers are now 3-2 on the season.
Kaden Ogle found the back of the net at the 81:58 mark on a penalty kick, slicing the deficit to just one at 2-1. However, Concordia managed to extend the advantage in the 87
th minute of action for the final tally.
The home squad opened the scoring in the 18
th minute and added onto the margin at the 24:15 mark.
For the match, York dominated the offensive possession, posting 18 shots to just eight by Concordia. The Panthers maintained a 9-6 edge in shots on goal. Additionally, the team earned nine corner kicks compared to three by the home squad.
York got things going in the fifth minute when
Asaph Achero blasted a shot on goal that was thwarted by the keeper. He added another shot on frame at the 16:43 mark to no avail.
Down 2-0, Ogle rocketed a shot on target at the 28:13 mark, but it was stopped.
Franco Pablot's shot in the 59
th minute was turned away by a defender, keeping the contest at 2-1. Moments later, Tim Schafer's attempt was saved.
Trailing 3-1 in the waning seconds, Pablot nearly made it 3-2, but his shot hit the crossbar as time expired.
