WINFIELD, Kan. – The York University women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 1-0 match at Southwestern Saturday evening in the KCAC opener.
The Panthers are now 0-5-1 on the season.
Ellie Reynolds blasted a shot on frame in the 23
rd minute that was saved by the keeper. At the 24:52 mark, Samantha Byer rocketed a shot that sailed wide of the frame. Lisa Ravat and
Lucia Tornero posted shots on goal moments later, but each was stopped.
Gracie Reynolds had a pair of shots on goal in the final 10 minutes of action, but Southwestern was up for the challenge, keeping the contest scoreless entering the second half.
Emma Walsh and
Gracie Reynolds had shots on goal within a 50-second span, but each were thwarted.
At the 69:59 mark, Southwestern College managed to find the back of the net off of a free kick for what turned out to be the match-winning goal.
York continued to push forward and had multiple shots on frame in the final moments. However, each was turned away by Hayden Clark.
For the match, York posted 15 shots compared to seven by the home team, including an 11-4 edge on goal. The visitors also held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
