SALINA, Kan. – The York University men's soccer team lost a hard-fought 2-1 match at Kansas Wesleyan Wednesday evening.

The Panthers are now 4-3 on the season, including 1-1 in KCAC action.

KWU scored a pair of goals over a stretch of 4:04 for a 2-0 lead just 3:54 into the second half. However, York battled back.

At the 60:41 mark, Asaph Achero rocketed an attempt past the keeper, bringing the Panthers within one at 2-1. Achero nearly knotted the score at 2-2 with his shot on goal at the 63:29 mark, but it was turned away. Just over a minute later, Joao Vitor Tavares' attempt was thwarted by the keeper.

York continued applying pressure in the offensive third of the pitch. In the 71st minute, Aday Munoz Guedes blasted a shot toward the frame, but the keeper managed to record the save.

Jamie Watt's save in the 73rd minute kept the score at 2-1. Achero's attempt in the 74th minute was blocked.

The Panthers' last attempt came via Franco Pablot, but his shot sailed high.

For the match, York totaled eight shots, including five on goal. The team earned a corner kick. Watt stopped six shots while playing all 90 minutes between the pipes. Tavares accounted for two shots, including one on goal.
