AVILA, Mo. – The York University men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 victory at Avila Saturday afternoon behind a pair of goals from
Finlay Lee in KCAC action.
The Panthers are now 5-3 on the season, including 2-1 in league action.
Alex Hulme took a pass from
Asaph Achero at the 22:27 mark and promptly found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, Hulme nearly made it 2-0, but his shot hit the crossbar. The attempt by Lee was thwarted in the 41
st minute.
The score remained the same until Lee rocketed a shot past the keeper in the 79
th minute for the two-goal margin. Lee struck again at the 83:13 mark off a pass from Achero for the three-goal advantage.
For the match, York had 22 shots, including 10 on goal. The squad was tremendous, earning eight corner kicks.
Between the pipes,
Jamie Watt played 85:41 and had a save.
Braden Austin played the final 4:19 in goal.
Hulme and
Franco Pablot had four shots apiece. Hulme had two shots on goal while Pablot tallied one. Achero notched three shots and had a pair of assists. Lee had four shots off the bench, including three on target and he ended up with two goals.
