Men's Basketball: Panthers beat Bethany behind Kilmurry's career high 30 points

YORK, Neb. – Jaxon Kilmurry's 30-point game guided the York University men's basketball team to a 93-70 victory over Bethany Wednesday evening.
 
The Panthers are now 6-15 on the season, including 4-11 in KCAC play.
 
Head coach Mitch McMullen's team was paced by Kilmurry's 30-points and seven assists. Dave Dalge added 20 points while Landon Miller posted 14 points to go along with six boards. Jomar Ezell tallied 12 points while Eli Nutting had eight points and nine rebounds. 
 
Shaun Armstrong tallied five points while Jordan Samuelsson and Donn'Yae Ferguson chipped in three points and one point, respectively.

After leading 3-0, York fell behind as the visitors netted the next seven points. A three-ball from Nutting made it a one-point game. Trailing 12-8, Kilmurry scored the next five points, helping York snag a 13-12 advantage. The Swedes pushed their advantage to six on multiple occasions, but Kilmurry's bucket made it a 25-21 contest at the 5:13 mark.
 
Bethany held a 30-21 lead, but Miller drilled back-to-back three-point shots. Kilmurry's lay-up trimmed the deficit to just one, 30-29, with 3:11 to play in the half. Facing a 32-29 deficit, York scored the final six points of the frame while holding the Swedes scoreless over the final 2:45. During the 6-0 spurt, Ezell hit a free throw and a lay-up while Kilmurry buried another three-ball en route to the 35-232 halftime margin. 
 
A three-point play by Miller extended the margin to 56-47 at the 12:20 mark. Leading 58=6-49, Dalge and Kilmurry each hit lay-ups. Up 60-51, Nutting started another run by the victors with an inside shot. Kilmurry found Dalge for a thunderous dunk. Ezell hit two free throws before Kilmurry's basket extended the lead to 17, 68-51. 
 
Holding a 71-59 lead, Kilmurry found the bottom of the net from deep off a pass from Shaun Armstrong. Dalge threw down a dunk prior to Nutting's jumper making it 78-59 with 5:32 to play.
 
Dalge pushed the lead to 20, 83-63, with a three-ball at the 3:50 mark. McMullen's team continued to thrive. Up 83-65, Miller started another spurt. After his bucket, Ezell found Kilmurry for a three-point shot. Ezell and Dalge hit lay-ups for a 92-65 edge with 1:52 remaining. 
 
For the game, York drilled 36-of-73 from the floor, including 13-of-36 from distance. The squad hit eight-of-13 from the charity stripe. The Panthers tallied 35 rebounds, including on the 13 offensive glass. McMullen's team totaled 17 assists and rattled off 42 points in the paint. The squad garnered 10 second-chance points and registered 11 steals.
