SHAWNEE, Kan. – A five-run sixth inning propelled the York University softball team to a 7-6 come-from-behind win over Waldorf Saturday in the final game of the day.
York dropped a 16-11 contest to the College of Saint Mary in the first game of the day.
The Panthers are now 4-12 on the season.
Against the College of Saint Mary, the visitors pushed across three runs in the first, but York quickly responded with five runs. With two down,
Taylor Larson singled and swiped second.
Taylor Jones walked before
Lexi Knapp belted a three-run home run over the left center field wall.
Brooklyn Hadl singled and
Bethany Wright doubled, putting two in scoring position.
Morgan Cameron doubled home both for a two-run cushion, 5-3.
Saint Mary pushed across a run in the second and three in the third for a 7-5 lead. The Panthers bounced back with a run in the bottom of the inning. Knapp singled to short and S. Rann entered as a pinch runner and promptly swiped second. She scored on Hadl's double down the line.
Trailing 11-6, York scored four runs in the fourth.
Shannon Nelson doubled to left center and scored on
Emma Peeples' base knock through the right side. Jones crushed an offering over the center field wall, cutting the deficit to two, 11-9.
Down 12-9 in the fifth, Hadl ripped a single up the middle. Wright singled to left and
Morgan Cameron laid down a sacrifice bunt, putting two in scoring position. Two batters later, Nelson drew a walk to load the bases. Peeples garnered a base hit to center field, knocking in Hadl and Wright, making it 12-11.
CSM scored three in the sixth and one in the seventh for the 16-11 final.
For the game, Hadl led the way with three hits. Knapp, Peeples and Wright had two hits apiece. Knapp and Peeples each drove in three while Cameron and Jones knocked in two apiece. Hadl, Jones and Wright each scored twice. Jones and Knapp each had a home run while Cameron, Hadl, Jones and Wright each had doubles.
In the circle, Knapp got the start and worked three innings with a strikeout.
Madison Sayer tossed three frames and had a strikeout.
Ashley Falk registered three outs to finish the seventh.
Against Waldorf, the designated home team fell behind 4-0 entering the third inning. With two down in the frame, Nelson singed up the middle and swiped second base. Peeples singled her, making it 4-1.
Down 5-1 in the fourth, Hadl recorded a one-out single but was erased on Wright's fielder's choice.

Moriah Hoshowski's single drove in Wright.
Trailing 6-2 in the sixth, the Panthers got things going when Wright reached on a fielding error and moved to second on a wild pitch. When Brownson walked, Wright took third on another wild pitch.
After a pitching change, Brownson swiped second and Hoshowski walked. Knapp drove in Wright on a groundout. Nelson was hit by a pitch and Peeples drove in two on a single up the middle. Larson tied the game on a groundout, driving in Nelson. Jones gave the Panthers a one-run lead on a base hit into center field, driving in Peeples.
For the game, Larson, Nelson and Peeples had two hits apiece. Peeples drove in three while Nelson and Wright each scored twice.

Alex Harwell got the start and worked 4.1 innings. She had three strikeouts.
Kory Anschutz tossed the final 2.2 innings of relief to get the win. She did not give up a hit and had a strikeout.
