SALINA, Kan. – The York University men's basketball team dropped an 85-69 decision at Kansas Wesleyan Wednesday evening in KCAC action.
The Panthers are now 6-17 on the season, including 4-13 in league play.
Head coach
Mitch McMullen's team was paced by
Dave Dalge's 24-point, seven-rebound effort.
Eli Nutting totaled 19 points.
Shaun Armstrong tallied seven points and five rebounds. He also dished out five assists.
Logan Beckstrom and Jaxon had six markers apiece.
Aaron Johnson had four points and five rebounds.
Donn'Yae Ferguson tallied two points and six boards while
Eben Effah had one.
Jomar Ezell distributed three assists.
Down 12-5 early, Effah hit a free throw. Dalge drained a jumper as did Nutting. His free throw concluded the three-point play while making it 12-11. Nutting's three-point bucket with 11:51 remaining sliced the deficit to 19-16. Nutting continued his solid night from downtown, burying another shot from distance, slicing the deficit to two, 21-19.
Facing a 35-26 deficit, Armstrong found Nutting for a basket. His ensuing charity toss made it 35-29 at the 5:30 mark. Armstrong's shot in the waning seconds pulled the Panthers within 12, 49-37, at halftime.
Trailing 53-38, Nutting connected from downtown. Carroll buried two jumpers, slicing the deficit to eight, 53-45. Down by 13, Dalge secured a three-point play to bring York within 10, 65-55. Kilmurry nailed a three-point shot at the 6:23 mark before Dalge found the bottom of the net, helping McMullen's squad within nine points. However, the team was unable to get closer the rest of the way.
For the game, York buried 25-of-57 from the floor, including seven-of-21 from downtown. The squad hit 12-of-16 from the free throw stripe. The Panthers pulled down 32 boards, nine of which were on the offensive glass. York dished out 13 assists and scored 30 points in the lane.
