HASTINGS, Neb. – The York University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Hastings Thursday by scores of 9-1 and 2-1 in a pair of non-conference contests.
The Panthers are now 6-16 on the season while the Broncos stand at 9-8.

Shannon Nelson reach on an error in the first inning. She took third on a sacrifice bunt by
Brooklyn Hadl. Nelson crossed home on
Taylor Larson's groundout, giving York a 1-0 lead.
Hastings posted three runs in the first, three in the second, one in the third, fourth and fifth for the 9-0 win.
The Panthers only had two other base runners – Nelson via a walk and
Sydney Rann via a base on balls.
In the circle,
Alex Harwell worked 1.2 innings while
Ashley Falk tossed three frames. Falk had a pair of strikeouts.
Game two saw the Panthers break the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth. With two down,
Kailyn Ruckman launched a pitch into center field for a ground-rule double on an 0-1 count.
Megan Brownson ripped a single to right field on the ensuing pitch for a 1-0 lead.
Hastings responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth for a one-run advantage.
For the game, Hadl led the way with two hits, including a double. Ruckman also doubled. Brown drove in Ruckman in the contest. Jones and
Caitlyn Dannenfelzer each had hits.
In the circle,
Kory Anschutz tossed a complete game and had a strikeout. She gave up two runs, but only one was earned, on five hits and three walks.
