SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The York University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at No. 14 Evangel Wednesday by scores of 8-0.
The Panthers are now 8-18 on the season, including 3-3 in KCAC action.

Aaron Alvarez's team saw
Shannon Nelson reach on a throwing error to lead off the contest. However, she was left stranded.
The Valor pushed across two runs in the first inning.
Caitlyn Dannenfelzer registered a two-out single through the left side of the infield in the second, but a strikeout ended the stanza. Evangel plated a run in the bottom of the inning for a 3-0 lead.
Taylor Larson reached on an error in the third and
Megan Brownson drew a one-out walk in the fifth, but neither was able to reach scoring position as the home team held a 6-0 advantage.
For the game, Dannenfelzer posted a single. Brownson and Jones each drew walks.
In the circle, Larson worked four innings and gave up six runs on seven hits. Five runs were earned. She accounted for four strikeouts.
Kory Anschutz entered in relief and worked the rest of the contest.
Game two saw
Brooklyn Hadl tally an infield single with one away in the top of the first. York was unable to push her across home plate, leaving her stranded.
Down 1-0 in the second,
Emma Peeples ripped a single through the left side of the infield. After she stole second,
Kailyn Ruckman drew a full-count walk but a groundout ended the threat.
Trailing 2-0 in the third, Larson posted an infield single and hustled to third when
Taylor Jones reached on a throwing error, but she was tagged out at second base to end the frame.
Peeples garnered a two-out single in the fourth but she was left on base. The Panthers had a chance in the sixth, but a double play concluded the inning.
Evangel scored two runs in the fourth and two in the sixth for the 8-0 win.
For the game, Peeples had two hits while Hadl and Larson each had one.
In the circle,
Ashley Falk got the start and threw five innings. She posted a strikeout. Anschutz faced three batters before
Madison Sayer squared off against two batters.
