Baseball: York's season ends with loss to Friends in KCAC Tournament

SALINA, Kan. – The York University baseball team concluded its season at the KCAC Championship with an 8-3 loss to fourth-seeded Friends University Thursday afternoon.
 
The Panthers conclude the season with a record of 16-34. The Falcons stand at 30-22 on the year. 
 
Head coach Brian Walth's team trailed 4-0 entering the bottom of the second stanza. York quickly got to work, slicing the deficit to three. Landon Morgan was hit by a pitch but was erased on a double play. Nathan Eisenmenger roped a single to left center field and scored as Hunter Arellano reached on an error, making it 4-1. 
 
The Falcons extended the margin to six, 7-1, with three runs in the sixth inning. In the bottom of the frame, Austin Petersen crushed a pitch into center field. Two batters later, Sam Hodoly reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second on an error, but Petersen was erased on the play.  Noah Prasad entered as a pinch runner for Hodoly and moved to third when Eisenmenger reached on an infield single. Facing a 1-2 count, Arellano registered a double to right field, knocking in Prasad and Eisenmenger, making it 7-3.  
 
The designated visitors tacked on a run in the eighth for what turned out to be the final score. 
 
For the game, York posted three runs on five hits. Eisenmenger accounted for two hits and scored a pair of runs. Arellano, Jose Martinez and Petersen each had a base hit. Arellano recorded the team's lone extra-base hit – a double. Prasad also crossed home in the contest. 
 
On the mound, Bryce Woodard got the start and worked five innings. He gave up four runs on eight hits with a strikeout. Sam Reynolds worked the final four frames. He gave up four runs on seven hits and posted a strikeout.
