WICHITA, Kan. – The York University men's golf team tied for 12
th at the Lark Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers were led by
Francisco Carvalho Gouveia's 45
th-place finish. He recorded a three-round total of 21-over par.
Tanner Simmerman was just one stroke behind him at 22-over par. Simmerman's best round was three-over par, during the first 18-holes of play.
Christian Flint was 61
st at 31-over par. He shot 12-over par on the first and third rounds while his best tally was seven-over par during the second round.
Aaron Bartak shot 59-over par, which was good enough for 78
th place.
Malachi Meador was 81
st after posting a score of 75-over par. His final round of 18-over par marked his best round of the tournament.
Playing as an individual,
Aiden Espinoza claimed 80
th place at 74-over par. He shot 19-over par over the final 18 holes of play for his top round of the event.
Texas A&M-San Antonio won the event at 29-over par. The squad bested Seminole State (31-over par) and Columbia (Mo.) (34-over par) for the title.
York shot 125-over par for the 54-hole event. The team opened at 36-over par before firing a round of 36-over par. The squad shot 50-over par over the final 18 holes of play on Tuesday.
The Panthers return to action Apr. 19-22 at the KCAC Men's Golf Championship in Garden City, Kan.
