YORK, Neb. — York lost to Kansas Wesleyan 1-0 on Wednesday. The Panthers were held scoreless despite putting four of their five shots on goal, while Kansas Wesleyan finished with an 11-5 shot advantage.
York kept Kansas Wesleyan scoreless through the first half, with
Addison Stewart making two saves in the opening 15 minutes.
Avery Heins put the Panthers' shot on frame at 27:42, and York later came through a Kansas Wesleyan stretch from 28:59 to 36:11 that included three shots and a corner without conceding. The teams went to halftime tied 0-0.
The Panthers conceded the half's only goal at 56:08, when Kansas Wesleyan's Wendy Zamudio scored to make it 1-0. York generated offensive chances from
Jenna Tutt,
Mariona Gomis and
Celia Agudo Rezusta, while Stewart made three second-half saves.
Amber Boswell sent York's final shot wide in the 86th minute, and the match ended in a 1-0 loss.
Stewart recorded five saves over 90 minutes in goal. Agudo Rezusta, Gomis, Tutt and Heins each put one shot on goal.
