Panthers season comes to end at Kansas Wesleyan

Box Score

Salina, KAN. - Kansas Wesleyan left no doubt that they were ready to play on Monday night in the opening round of the KCAC Tournament. The Coyotes jumped out to a 23-9 lead after the first 10 minutes of play and never looked back. KWU led by as many as 36 points in the contest and outscored the Panthers in every quarter but the final one.

Kansas Wesleyan used a solid shooting performance and a stifling defense to keep the Panthers from upsetting the host team. KWU shot 50% in the first half before trailing off a little in the second half, most of which came in the final five minutes of play when the reserves were getting minutes.

York College forced 21 turnovers in the game and scored 23 points off of them, but they were plagued by turnovers themselves with 25 total. York shot just 33% from the floor and only 63% from the charity stripe, a place the Panthers usually excel.

York had two starters score in double figures with Amaia Diez leading the way with 17 points. Julia Trujillo scored 14 points, while Shawnau Johnson added 10 points off of the bench. The Panthers finish the season with an overall record of 5-25.
