YORK, Neb. – The York University women's basketball team lost a 100-64 decision at Evangel Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 7-14 on the year, including a 5-13 ledger in KCAC action.
Head coach
Corinna Minjarez's team was led by Desitny Shepherd's game-high 21 points in 30 minutes of action.
Olivia Adams and
Ashley Rubio accounted for eight points apiece.
Olivia Shannon,
Alliyana Page and
Monique Contreras had five points each.
Britney Schroer and
Pasiko Hvichiani totaled four points apiece.
Adams and Rubio snagged five boards apiece while Shannon dished out four assists in 29 minutes of work.
Down by 19 at 39-20, Hvichiani converted a lay-up at the 4:32 mark. Shepherd hit a pair of free throws after being fouled. With 3:49 to go in the half, Shannon nailed a pair of charity tosses, pulling the visitors within 13 at 39-26. However, that was as close as the team could get.
The Panthers continued to battle hard throughout the game. During the final 10 minutes of action, the team played within one of the Valor, being outscored just 17-16.
For the game, York hit 21-of-69 from the floor, including four-of-17 from downtown. The squad buried 18-of-22 from the charity stripe. The Panthers grabbed 29 boards and had 11 assists.
