MCPHERSON, Kan. – The York University women's golf team had a pair of student-athletes earn top-30 finishes at the Central Kansas Classic.
The event wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
Sydney Fernandez placed 23
rd after shooting 35-over par. She accounted for scores of 17-over par and 18-over par.
Penelope Heaton recorded a score of 43-over par, which was good enough for 30
th. After opening with a 23-over par, Heaton garnered a score of 20-over par for the final 18 holes.
Alba Kindelan took 36
th after shooting 102-over par.
Barton CC won the meet while Iowa Western CC and William Penn finished second and third, respectively.
The York University men's golf team finished 10
th at the Central Kansas Classic, which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers were led by
Francisco Carvalho Gouveia's 42
nd-place finish. He shot 26-over par for the event.
Tanner Simmerman was just two strokes behind him at 28-over par. Simmerman took 45
th place.
Aiden Espinoza was 54
th after shooting 37-over par while teammate
Malachi Meador was just one place behind him in 55
th. Meador posted a 40-over par.
Christian Flint took 59
th after posting a mark of 44-over par.
Playing as an individual,
Aaron Bartak was 56
th after recording a score of 41-over par.
Cash Dicketts notched a score of 68-over par (62
nd place) while
Calvin Pryor (63
rd place) accounted for a score of 85-over par. Both played as individuals.
Iowa Western CC won the tournament while Dodge City CC and Barton CC were second and third, respectively.
The Panthers return to action Sept. 29-30 when they host a tournament at York Country Club.
