YORK, Neb. – The York University baseball team dropped a 10-3 contest to Dakota Wesleyan Thursday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 5-10 on the season.
Head coach
Brian Walth's team trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the fourth.
Landon Morgan drew a lead-off walk and took second on a wild pitch. After moving to third on a grounder,
Austin Petersen knocked him in on another groundout.
Down 4-1 in the sixth,
Gio Tarin drew a walk. Morgan's base knock through the right side put two on for
Jay Twedt, who promptly laid down a sensational sacrifice bunt. With both runners in scoring position, Petersen smacked a double to left field, bringing the team within one at 4-3.
Dakota Wesleyan pushed across a run in the seventh and five in the ninth for a seven-run advantage.
For the game, Morgan and Peterson had two hits apiece while
Marek Stone tallied one. Petersen posted a double and drove in three. Morgan scored twice while Tarin crossed home once.
On the mound,
James McCown got the start and worked two innings with five strikeouts.
Nate Dalizon worked the next two innings and produced five strikeouts.
Ruben Colliander worked an inning. He had a strikeout.
Matthew Burrell had a strikeout while
Brayden Woodard tossed 2.2 frames with four strikeouts.
Jaret Mello saw time on the mound while
Jackson Taylor threw two-thirds of a frame with a strikeout.
