GOODELL, Okla. – The York University baseball team lost a 15-1 decision at Oklahoma Panhandle State Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 1-5 on the season.
Head coach Brian Walth's team tried to get on the board early. Noah Prasad drew a lead-off walk and took second on Jay Twedt's base knock through the left side of the infield. However, a double play ended the threat.
OPSU broke open a scoreless contest in the third inning with three runs. In the fourth, Sam Hodoly registered a one-out single to left field. Bryce Gorecki reached on a wild pitch on a strikeout as Hodoly took second. However, a pop-up ended the stanza.
The home team posted six in the fifth for a 9-0 lead.
Trailing 15-0 in the seventh, Gorecki rocketed a pitch down the left field line for a double. Landon Morgan's base hit up the middle allowed Gio Tarin, who entered as a pinch runner, to cross home.
For the game, Gorecki had the team's lone extra base hit – a double.
On the mound, Bryce Woodard got the start and went four innings. He had six strikeouts. Jackson Taylor also had a strikeout.
