YORK, Neb. – The York University baseball team powered past Evangel 14-3 behind a three-home run day by
Nathan Eisenmenger.
The Panthers are now 8-17 on the year, including 6-8 in KCAC action.
Head coach
Brian Walth's team jumped on top with a run in the bottom of the first.
Jose Martinez was hit by a pitch and scampered to third on a base hit by
Isaac Gomez. Two batters later,
Landon Morgan knocked in Martinez on a single to center field.
Eisenmenger broke a 1-1 tie in the second with a lead-off homer to left center field. Martinez recorded a one-out hit and went to second on
Austin Petersen's single. Morgan promptly blasted a three-run round triper over the left field wall for a 5-1 edge.
Eisenmenger blasted a two-run round-tripper in the third inning, plating
Kodai Namba, who entered as a pinch runner from
Sam Hodoly.
Gio Tarin walked and scored on Martinez's base hit to right field.
Up 8-3, Morgan drew a lead-off walk and took second on a groundout. Hodoly doubled home Morgan.
Noah Prasad entered as a pinch runner and managed to trot home on a base on balls to Martinez.
York tacked on four runs in the seventh inning. Petersen drew a lead-off walk and
Ryan Johnston entered as a pinch runner. Morgan singled and Johnston scored on an error. Hodoly walked and two batters later Eisenmenger launched a three-run shot over the left field wall.
For the game, Eisenmenger and Morgan had three hits apiece. Eisenmenger drove in six and Morgan had four RBI. Eahch scored three times. Martinez had two hits, two RBI and scored twice.
Hudson John picked up a pair of hits.
On the mound,
James McCown worked six frames and had five strikeouts.
Jaret Mello had a strikeout in an inning of work.
