YORK, Neb. – The York University baseball team cruised to a 12-4 victory over Bethany Wednesday afternoon in a mid-week clash.
The Panthers are now 9-17 on the season, including 7-8 in KCAC action.
Head coach
Brian Walth's team trailed 4-0 until the bottom of the third inning.
Nathan Eisenmenger recorded a lead-off single to center field and moved to second when
Bryce Gorecki was hit by a pitch.
Jose Martinez drew a 3-1 walk to load the bases.
Austin Petersen was hit by a pitch, knocking in Eisenmenger.
Landon Morgan posted a double to right center field, knocking in two. With two down,
Sam Hodoly delivered a two-RBI single, plating Petersen and Morgan for a. 5-4 advantage.
Holding the 5-4 lead in the fourth, Gorecki tallied a double to center field.
Kodai Namba entered as a pinch runner and promptly crossed home for the second time as
Gio Tarin recorded a single to right center field.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Panthers tacked on insurance runs. Hodoly drew a two-out walk and managed to trot home when
Marek Stone homered to left field.
York's high-octane offense got hot again in the eighth. Hodoly earned a bases loaded walk, driving in Martinez. Stone singled in
Noah Prasad and Morgan for an 11-4 cushion. Moments later, Hodoly scored on a wild pitch for the team's 12
th run of the game.
For the game, Stone posted three hits and drove in four. Petersen notched two hits. Hodoly drove in three runs and scored twice. Mrogan knocked in two runs and crossed home twice. Martinez and Namba each scored two times.
On the mound,
Brayden Woodard worked 4.1 innings and had three strikeouts.
Ruben Colliander had a strikeout.
Jaret Mello and
Dakota Angielski each had two strikeouts.
Sam Reynolds tossed a scoreless ninth frame.
