OTTAWA, Kan. – The York University baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Ottawa on Saturday by scores of 9-7 and 12-0.
The Panthers are now 15-29 on the year, including 13-19 in KCAC action.
Head coach
Brian Walth's team trailed 6-0 entering the eighth inning. York produced an astounding inning, plating seven runs.
With one down,
Nathan Eisenmenger drew a full-count walk.
Jose Martinez's single to the gap put two on.
Gio Tarin's single loaded the bases for
Austin Petersen, who drew a walk, plating Eisenmenger.
Sam Hodoly also drew a base on balls, scoring Martinez while making it 6-2. After a pitching change,
Marek Stone ripped a double to center field, driving in Tarin and Petersen.
Hunter Arellano followed it up with a single, driving in Hodoly and Stone.
Landon Morgan doubled, putting runners on second and third.
Jay Twedt's sacrifice fly allowed
Kodai Namba, who entered as a pinch runner, to cross home for a 7-6 advantage.
Ottawa scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and held on for the 9-7 win.
For the game, Hodoly and Petersen each drove in two.
On the mound,
Bryce Woodard went five innings and had four strikeouts.
Cameron Castor tossed two innings while
Jaret Mello threw the eighth inning.
The second game saw the home team plate three runs in the second, five in the third and four in the sixth for the 12-0 win.
York recorded a one-out single off the bat from Tarin in the first. Two batters later, Hodoly recorded an infield hit, putting runners on first and third.
Landon Morgan led off the second with a walk. He took third on a double by Eisenmenger, but a groundout ended the threat. With one down in the seventh,
Bryce Gorecki roped a single up the middle. Eisenmenger recorded an infield single, putting two on. A strikeout and fielder's choice concluded the frame.
For the game, Eisenmenger posted two hits, including a double. Gorecki, Hodoly, Petersen and Tarin also had base knocks in the contest.
On the mound,
Elvin Ramos got the start and worked 2.2 innings. He had a strikeout.
Brayden Woodard tossed 2.1 innings while
Ruben Colliander threw two-thirds of an inning.
Nate Dalizon got the final out with a strikeout.
