Panthers come up short at (24) Friends University

Wichita, KAN. - York College fought back from a 16-point second half deficit to come shot against the 24 ranked Friends University Falcons. The Panthers were able to come within three points at 86-83 with just under 30 seconds remaining in the game, but couldn't get any closer as they fell 90-83.

Patrick Burnett (SR/Erie, Pa) led the Panthers with 20 points and nine rebounds. He also added five assists to his stat sheet. Michael Tolbert (JR/Apopka, Fla) finished with 16 points as the only other Panther to reach double figures.

After struggling from the field in the first half (37%) York stepped it up in the second, shooting a sizzling 59% from the floor. Unfortunately, the Falcons shot 55% in the second half as well, after shooting 45% in the first.

York was on top of the rebounding category with a 41-30 advantage, but 21 turnovers hurt as Friends converted those into 24 points.

York will look to move up the KCAC rankings as they travel to Kansas on Thursday to face the University of St. Mary. The Panthers are currently in ninth place, one out of postseason consideration. There are nine games left to move up the standings.
