Men's Basketball: Second half dooms Panthers at Avila

York led 37-26 at the break, but the host Avila University Eagles scored 64 second-half points to cruise to the 90-80 win on Wednesday night. After having the 11-point advantage at the break, the Eagles went inside to the paint and took over the game. The Eagles scored 42 points in the paint to just 26 by the Panthers. After shooting 17 times from beyond the arc in the first half, the Eagles dropped that number to 10, forcing the ball in the paint. Conversely, the Panthers forced outside shots and dropped their shooting percentage down to 33% for the game.

Michael Tolbert (JR/Apopka, Fla) scored a team-high 22 points, followed by Nevell Lenard (SR/Los Angeles, Calif) with 15 points and Aaron Munday-Rashid (JR/Melbourne, Australia) with 10. York's leading scorer Patrick Burnett (SR/Erie, Pa) was held to just three points, all free throws.

The Eagles also forced 22 turnovers that they converted into 17 points.

York will travel to Sterling College on Saturday to try to move back into the postseason race as they face the Warriors.
