Men's Basketball: Dominant second half gives Panthers road win over Bethany

Lindsborg, KAN. - York had to use a second-half surge to get past the Bethany Swedes on Saturday night 87-70. The Panthers defense kept York in the game the first half as the team struggled shooting. As a team, the Panthers shot 28% from the floor on 11-of-39 shooting. They were just 2-of-18 from beyond the arc. But their defense played well enough to keep the game exciting as the teams were knotted at 32 at the break.

The second half was a different story as York exploded offensively in the second half scoring 55 points on 53% shooting. They also scored 16 points off of turnovers in the half as they held the Swedes to just 38 points.

Michael Tolbert (SR/Apopka, Fla.) was the game-changer on offense as he scored 18 points in the second half for a total of 23 points. Tyreece Berry (JR/Muskogee, Okla.) led all scorers with 24 points. Victor Lewis (SR/Moreno Valley, Calif.) also came alive in the second half as he scored 13 of his 16 in the period. Eric Lenear (JR/Bellevue, Neb.) was the other Panther to score in double figures as he finished with 14 points.

The Panthers improve to 6-2 on the season and will host the University of St. Mary on Wednesday night in the Freeman Center. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
