Leavenworth, KAN. - The Panthers fell behind by a few too many in the second half as they were unable to stage the comeback on Monday night. The Panthers had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but fell 65-62 at the buzzer.
York shot just 36% from the field, while the Spires from the University of St. Mary shot over 43%. DeAnte Barnes (SR/Rockford, Ill.) led the Panthers with 15 points and seven rebounds. Kafani Williams (SR/Pembroke, N.H.) was solid off of the bench for the Panthers as he scored 12 points. Michael Tolbert (SR/Apopka, Fla.) added 12 points as well.
York's bench kept them in the game as they scored 27 points to just 10 points by the Spires.
The Panthers have a tough opponent slated for Thursday as they welcome the 16th ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles to the Freeman Center. The matchup is slated for a primetime spot on ESPN3 at 8:00 p.m.
