Threshers beat Panthers behind big second quarter

Box Score

YORK - York College had a tough time slowing down the number-two team in the KCAC on Wednesday night. The Threshers scored 33 points in the second quarter and the Panthers were not able to recover losing 84-58. Yionis Keith scored a game-high 20 points, but it was a balanced Threshers effort that saw four players score in double figures. Abby Schmidt scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds in the contest for the Threshers.

York had three scorers in double figures. Aside from Keith, it was Sadie Pittman and Amaia Diez that added 10 points each. Pittman also added eight rebounds.

After only scoring 20 points in the first half, York scored 26 points in the third quarter alone and had the Panthers keeping the game exciting. Caite Whitehead had a strong performance off of the bench for the Panthers as she picked up two blocks and a steal while scoring five points and garnering four rebounds.

York struggled on the boards as they were outrebounded 54-29. The size of the Threshers was difficult for the Panthers, especially when Julia Trujillo got into foul trouble early. She scored just two points in 14 minutes of play.

The Panthers travel to Sterling College on Saturday afternoon to play the Warriors at 2:00 p.m.
