Box Score YORK - York College struggled from the floor on Saturday night in their first action of the new year. Ottawa took an early lead and let it build as the game went on. The Braves led by as many as 22 points before finishing the game by a score of 65-50.
After shooting 45% from the field in the first quarter the Panthers went ice cold hitting just two field goals in the second quarter and a combined eight in the second half. The Panthers finished the game shooting just over 27% from the field.
The Ottawa Braves weren't much better with just over 36% from the field. The biggest difference was the rebounding margin. The Braves had a +12 advantage in the rebounding category and that turned into 13 extra points. York also turned the ball over 24 times which correlated to a +18 scoring advantage for Ottawa.
Julia Trujillo led the Panthers with 17 points. Amaia Diez was the only other Panther to score in double figures with 12 points. Ottawa had four players score in double figures.
York falls to 4-8 overall on the season and will have a week off before hosting Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start.
