Box Score YORK - York College had a tough task at hand as they hosted the Avila University Eagles Monday night. The Eagles are currently receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll and they showed why as they beat the Panthers 81-67.
After trailing by 15 points after the first quarter the Panthers brought the game within four points late in the second quarter. However, Ainsley Tolson led the Eagles out of their scoring slump and put their lead back up to 12. The final five minutes of the half were back and forth as the Eagles took a 49-37 into the intermission.
Julia Trujillo kept the Panthers in the game as much as she could with 31 points on the night. She was the only Panther to score in double figures.
York's defense was strong to the final whistle as they allowed just two field goals in the final quarter. However, the deficit was just too much to overcome as the Panthers couldn't get any closer than 12 points.
