Ethan Hughes has been selected to take over the York University Esports program. Hughes has been the graduate assistant for outgoing coach
Collin Tucker over the past two years.
"I'm excited for Ethan to take over the program and continue to lead the team to new heights," stated Tucker. "He's been a tremendous asset to our program and helping make everyone a better player."
Hughes competed at Grand Canyon University as an undergraduate. He competed in Apex Legends while at GCU and also worked in their esports facility after he finished.
While working as the graduate assistant he specialized in battle royales such as as Fortnite. York's Fortnite team has reached the national stage every semester they have competed.
"Ethan is going to a tremendous job leading the Esports program and mentoring these young athletics," said Director of Athletics
Garrett Schwarz.
Hughes will begin his duties as the head coach beginning on May 1.
