Josh Nething Named Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach at York University

York, Neb. — York University is proud to announce the promotion of Josh Nething to Head Coach of the Panthers' Track & Field and Cross Country programs. Nething takes the reins following the departure of longtime Head Coach Justin Carver, who led the program for nearly two decades.

Coach Nething has served on the York coaching staff for the past eight years, specializing in the throws. During his tenure, the Panthers' throwing events became a consistent strength at both the conference and national levels. Under his leadership, York's throwers have produced numerous conference champions and placers, multiple NCCAA National Champions, and several All-American performances. Nething has also coached eight NAIA national qualifiers in the throws for both indoor and outdoor seasons.

"Josh has been an integral part of the success of this program for years," said Director of Athletics Brian Walth. "He's earned the respect of our athletes, his peers, and the campus community. His commitment to the development of student-athletes and passion for the sport make him the right leader to carry this program forward."

Before arriving at York, Nething spent 12 years at Montrose High School (Colo.), where he taught physical education and coached both football and track & field. He served as Head Track Coach for seven of those years, guiding multiple conference champions and state placers in the shot put and discus. During his time at Montrose, he coached teams of 55–75 athletes and gained valuable mentorship under some of the region's most respected coaches.

"I've had the privilege of learning from incredible coaches throughout my career, including my time here at York under Coach Carver," Nething said. "It's an honor to step into this role and continue building on the foundation we've laid together. Our goal remains the same—develop student-athletes who compete with excellence and character."
