YORK - A last second shot by Bethany saw the Panthers fall for the first time at home this year 96-94. York had a 13 point lead at the half but a hot shooting Bethany team used a strong second half to upset the Panthers in KCAC action Thursday night.

Both team shot 58% from the field but it was the Swedes three-point shooting that made the difference in the second half as they shot 73% from beyond the arc on 8-of-11 shots. Joey Habtermariam was a perfect 6-of-6 for the Swedes, five of those after the break.

Cameron Coleman (SR/Allen, Texas) led all scorers with 30 points, followed by Keith Mack (JR/Chicago, Ill) with 16. Trevor Lenear (JR/Bellevue, Neb) was the only other Panther to score in double figures with 13. York missed 13 free throws in the game shooting just 57% from the charity stripe.

The game was back and forth for most of the first half with the Panthers holding a slight lead before going on a run over the three minutes as they went on a 13-2 run to lead by 15 just before the break. The Swedes came out of the break on a mission as they went on a 20-8 run to open up the first four minutes to come within one point. Bethany took their first lead of the half with 13:52 remaining as part of another 13-0 run.

The Panthers battled back and tied the game with five minutes remaining before falling behind by seven once again. With two minutes to go in the game York went on a 8-1 run to tie the game with 17 seconds remaining. Bethany called a time out and York defended the Swedes ensuing drive perfectly as they stopped Elvis Okafor in the lane and forced an errant shot. With two second to go Ian Merzwinski was able to fight for the offensive rebound and put up a fadeaway jumper that went through with six tenths of a second remaining.

York falls to 2-2 in conference play while Bethany improves to 4-0. York travels to Wichita, Kansas on Saturday afternoon to take on Friends University.
