"Not done, just getting started," were the words Head Coach Delton Deal had to share after his team just had the biggest upset in NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament history. The Panthers felt they were slighted a little bit by their seeding and showed the Point Lookout, Mo. crowd exactly why.

St. Francis (Ill.) had a couple big leads that made the fans feel the game was going to be a normal one seed vs. eight seed ending. However, Deal and his team knew they weren't to be counted out as Cameron Coleman (JR/Allen, Texas) kept the team in the game and Johnny Cooksey (JR/Shreveport, La) put the dagger into the Fighting Saints' bid for the second round.

Coleman scored six points in a row as the Panthers started quickly out of the gates building an 8-2 lead. The Fighting Saints didn't panic and would chip away at the Panther lead and eventually go on a 7-0 run of their own midway through the first half. With just under seven and a half minutes remaining in the first half York found themselves down by 10. Eight more points by Coleman and a three-point field goal by Michael Johnson (JR/Orlando, Fla) cut the deficit to four points with just over five minutes to go in the half. With less than a minute remaining Terrence Cole (SR/San Diego, Calif) hit a three of his own and a last second shot by Josh Bates (JR/Shreveport, La) tied the game going into intermission at 42 apiece.

St. Francis came out of the break on fire as they went on a 17-7 run during the first five minutes of the second half. Coach Deal called a timeout and calmed his team down. Two quick threes by Michael Johnson and Cooksey cut the Fighting Saints' lead down to three points and a ball game was happening again. Midway thru the second half Darreon Tolliver (SR/San Diego, Calif) gave the Panthers their first lead since the 12:40 mark of the first half.

The next seven minutes were back and forth before the Panthers went on a 9-0 run over the span of 1:21 that was capped by Cooksey's three point field goal. Over the final two minutes of the game the Fighting Saints were never able to get within six points as York made 8-of-10 free throws down the stretch.

Coleman led the Panthers with 22 points followed by Cooksey with 21 points. Johnson added 11 points off the bench as the only other Panther to score in double figures. Coleman led the team with eight rebounds and Chris Smith (FR/Dallas, Texas) had four assists.

York improves to 24-9 on the season. The Panthers will face Dakota Wesleyan, the number five seed, at 9:15 p.m. tonight to advance to the round of eight.
