Box Score 3 YORK - York made the best of their home-opening series with a three-game sweep over KCAC opponent Southwestern College. The Panthers won Saturday's game 6-1. They followed that up with a 12-2 win and closed it out with a nailbiter 1-0.
Game One
Daniel Tomkiewicz took care of game one on Saturday with a solid outing. He went six innings allowing just one run on three hits. He also struck out seven in the outing. The offense gave him a nice cushion right away as they scored runs in the first and third innings to lead 4-0. Jesus Licon started off the scoring with an RBI single and then scored via a balk later on. In the third inning it was Licon once again, this time with a 2-RBI single. Cameron Reeve hit a 2-RBI double of his own in the sixth to put the score at 6-1.
Bryce Tucker pitched an inning in relief before Ian Heck pitched the final two innings for the save. The Panthers had four hits on the day and were helped with the Moundbuilders committing four errors.
Game Two
York used a seven-run sixth inning to give Treyton Scully his third win of the season. Scully went the complete game allowing five hits and just one earned run, while striking out eight batters. York scored 12 runs on nine hits in the game.
Cameron Reeve went 3-for-3 to lead the Panthers offensively. York was again helped out by the Moundbuilders. This time it was due to the errant pitches of the pitching staff. York was able to advance runners easily as 10 wild pitchers were thrown by the Moundbuilders staff.
Game Three
The final game of the series had everyone on the edge of their seat as it was a pitcher's dual between Joshua Crabtree of Southwestern and Tyler Chavis of York. The Panthers scored the only run of the ball game in the second inning. Daniel Polo led off the inning by reaching on an error by the shortstop. A single by Austin Eisenmenger moved Polo into scoring position before Charlie Konstantino advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt. Freddy Tlatenchi hit a grounder to second that allowed Polo to score from third and give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
Noah Rasnick came into to relieve Chavis in the seventh inning and secured his first save of the season. Rasnick allowed the go-ahead run on first with two outs, but a grounder to first ended the threat and gave the Panthers their second KCAC series sweep.
York will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon as they take on Kansas Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m. at Levitt Stadium.
