Box Score 3 York had a great weekend sweeping the three-game series against conference opponent Southwestern. The Panthers had a powerful offensive showing, putting up 40 hits in the three games including two home runs and 12 extra-base hits. York's Secudino Morales had the hot bat going 11 for 17 at the plate with four doubles and five RBIs. York's pitching staff allowed just fifteen earned runs in the series. York won game one 12-8, game two 7-5, and game three 13-3 (7 inn.).
Game One Recap
York got off to a slow start allowing Southwestern to score seven runs in the first two innings but was able to hold Southwestern scoreless until the eighth when they pushed another run across. York was able to chip away a bit in the second, third, and fourth innings but exploded for a huge six-run inning in the fifth. York put up 14 hits, four doubles, and a home run in the game including two stolen bases by Austin Grant and Isaac Stark. York's Nic Mureck got the win, throwing 4.1 innings allowing four hits, no earned runs, and striking out three. Owen McClung threw for 1.1 innings allowing six hits, seven earned runs, and one home run. James Mockry got the save throwing 1.1 innings allowing no hits, no earned runs, and striking out three.
Game Two Recap
York had a steady game in their first game of the Saturday doubleheader scoring in five of the nine innings of the game. York plated seven runs on 11 hits, three doubles, and three stolen bases. York's Secudino Morales went 4 for 6 with two doubles, an RBI, three runs, and a stolen base. York's defense was able to hold Southwestern scoreless until the ninth inning when they pushed five runs across the plate. Thomas Fogle got the win for the Panthers throwing 8.2 innings allowing 12 hits, five earned runs, one home run, and striking out five. James Mockry came in for the save throwing one-third of an inning allowing no hits and no earned runs.
Game Three Recap
For the final game of the series York went out with a bang. York had 15 hits, five doubles, and a home run in the seven-inning game. Secundino Morales, Ryan Romero, and Daniel Polo led the Panthers' offense going a combined 8 for 15 with 6 RBIs and five runs scored. Connor Larson capped off the game for York with a solo shot over the left field fence in the top of the seventh. York's Tyler Chavis got the win, throwing five innings allowing seven hits, one earned run, and striking out three. Josiah Young threw for two innings allowing two hits, one earned run, and striking out two.
