BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The York University men's wrestling team earned a hard-fought win over Oklahoma Wesleyan Thursday evening in a dual match by a score of 31-14.
The Panthers opened the dual meet with
Barrett Stickelman notching a win via fall over Bradan O'Brien in a mere 2:21 at the 125-lb. class.
At 133,
Luis Vela posted an impressive technical fall victory, 19-4, over his foe Zeke Wheeler. In the 141-lb. division,
Elijah Kaawa accounted for a hard-fought 7-6 decision over Ryan Dement for a 14-0 lead.
Johnathon Vincent picked up a forfeit win in the 157-lb. class, giving the Panthers a 20-6 advantage at that point.
With a high-scoring 16-11 decision in the 184-lb. division,
Dayton Fraser lifted the visitors to a 20-14 margin heading into the final two matches of the evening.
In the 197-lb. class,
Tanner Hawkins registered a 13-10 victory over Hunter Hall for three points. The victory secured the team win for York.
Marce Vasquez turned in a solid performance in the final scoring match of the night. At 285, he registered a 17-1 technical fall in 6:14 for the win.
The Panthers return to action Saturday when they compete at the Oklahoma Wesleyan Invite.
