MARYVILLE, Mo. – The York University men's track and field team opened the season at Northwest Missouri State Saturday.
Alphones Jackson notched a third-place effort in the shot put with an impressive mark of 14.99m (49'2.25"). He followed it with an eighth-place finish in the weight throw. Jackson registered a mark of 15.40m (50'6.25").
Tytan Taylor narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish in the 60m. He took fourth with a time of 6.97.
Taylor continued his solid day, taking fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.70m (21'11.75"). He also placed 14
th in the high jump (1.80m – 5'10.75"). Taylor narrowly missed a top-20 finish in the 200m, crossing the line in 22.81 for 22
nd.
Andrew Heinrichs' time of 35.13 was good enough for a fifth-place effort in the 300m. Heinrichs also notched a mark of 22.59 in the 200m, which allowed him to take 16
th.
Jaden Beske posted a top-15 time in the 300m. He crossed the finish line in 37.66, which allowed him to take 13
th.
Trenton Orlando finished 15
th in the 600-yard event after crossing in 1:17.65.
The Panthers return to action Friday, Dec. 13, when they compete at the UNK Pre-Holiday Meet as well as the Concordia Pre-Holiday Invite.
