CEDARVILLE, Ohio. – The York University men's track and field team picked up a pair of individual national championships and the squad finished seventh at the NCCAA Indoor National Championships, which wrapped up Saturday.
The team secured 35 points at the meet.
On Saturday,
Alphonse Jackson secured his title with an effort of 15.14m in the shot put. His mark was over a foot further than the second-place competitor.
Andrew Heinrichs won the heptathlon after amassing 4,209 points, besting second place by 138 points. Teammate
Jaden Beske snagged fourth place with 3,993 points. Together, the two amassed 15 points for the Panthers.
The quartet of
Anthony Hodson, Heinrichs,
Tytan Taylor and
Jordan Norton secured a seventh-place finish in a time of 1:33.65. The effort allowed the team to pick up two points.
Heinrichs garnered a seventh-place effort for two points in the 60m hurdles. He finished the race in 9.03.
On Friday, Jackson earned a third-place finish in the weight throw. His mark of 15.71m gave him the bronze medal and York picked up six points for his work.

The Panthers return to action Wednesday, Feb. 12, when they compete at the KCAC Indoor Championships, which are hosted in Omaha, Neb.
