SEWARD, Neb. – The York University men's track and field team was well represented at the Polar Dog Classic Friday.
Andrew Heinrichs and
Trenton Orlando turned in third-place efforts. Heinrichs notched a time of 52.13 for the bronze medal in the 400m while Orlando's time of 1:26.91 was good enough for third place in the 600m.
Anthony Hodson narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish (1:27.33) in the event.
Heinrichs garnered a seventh-place effort in the 200m in a time of 23.20. He edged
Jordan Norton, who took ninth in 23.47.
Dakwan Cash was 19
th (25.10). Heinrichs also accounted for an 11
th-place mark in the 60m, crossing in 7.30. He bested Norton, who took 12
th at 7.31. Cash (18
th) and
Cooper Dillan (19
th) also posted solid times of 7.55 and 7.61, respectively.
Orlando edged
Anthony Hodson in the 600m by less than a half second. Hodson crossed the finish line in 1:27.33.
Alphonse Jackson picked up the silver medal in the shot put after a mark of 15.58m.
Cooper Dillan took 24
th (12.02m). Jackson had a solid attempt in the weight throw as he accounted for a 13
th-place effort with a toss of 14.80m.
The Panthers return to action Friday, Jan. 24 at the Prairie Wolf Invite, which is hosted by Nebraska.
